How many litres of water would flow out of a pipe having an area of cross-section of 5cm2 in one minute, if the speed of water in the pipe is 30 cm/ sec?
9
Given, Area of the cross-section of the pipe = 5 cm2,
Speed of water flow = 30 cm/sec.
∴ Flow of water in 1 minute = 30 × 60 cm
= 1800 cm
Now, area of the mouth of the cylindrical pipe = 5 cm2
∴Volume = 1800 ×5=9000cm3
Thus, required volume of water in litres = 9 l [∵1litre=1000 cm3]
