Nephrolepis is the genus of fern which completes its life cycle in two phases, sporophytic phase and gametophytic phase. During sporophytic phase adult plant produces diploid spore mother cells in the sporangium. The spore mother cells undergo meiosis and produce haploid spores in gametophytic phase.
