Question

how many meiotic and mitotic divisions are required to form 1. one pollen grain 2. one microspore 3. four pollen grain 4. two male gametes 5. eight male gametes

Solution

one meiotic division in MMC form four microspore/pollen grain then these microspore undergo mitotic division forming vegetative cell and generative cell (4 GC will form if all four microspore undergo mitosis i.e 1 microspore will form 1 GC). then 1 GC form 2 male gametes, so means 4 GC will form total 8 male gametes. so ultimately 1 MMC after one meiotic division and 2 mitotic division will form 8 male gametes ( if all microspore undergo mitosis)
