How many moles of H2O is produced when C3H8 undergoes combustion ?
  1. 4

Open in App
Solution

The correct option is A 4
Alkanes on heating in sufficient supply of oxygen undergoes combustion producing carbon dioxide and water. Propane (C3H8) combines with oxygen to form carbon dioxide and water. The reaction takes place as follows:

C3H8(g) + 5O2(g) 3CO2(g)+ 4H2O(l)

Thus, 3 moles of carbon dioxide and 4 moles of water is produced on combustion of propane.
