How many moles of oxygen atoms are there in 1.2×1022 sulphur dioxide molecules?

Open in App
Solution

GIVEN
nof molecules of SO2=1.2*10^22

No.of moles =(No. Of molecules)/(avogadro number)

no of moles of SO2 =(1.2*10^22)/(6.022*10^23)

no of moles of SO2=0.0199 mole

Formula of sulfur dioxide =SO2

No.of Oxygen atoms present in 1 molecule of SO2=2

Moles of Oxygen atoms present in SO2 = 2×0.0199 ⇒ 0.0398 mole
