Solution

The number of nodes in 1s,2p,3dand4f orbitals:

Step 1: The number of node is related by principle quantum number(n) and azimuthal quantum number(l) .

Step 2:Formula used numberofnodes=n-l-1.

Step 3: The number of nodes in 1s,2p,3dand4f orbitals are given below:

  • The number of nodes for 1s orbitals

where, n=1 and l=0

The number of nodes =n-l-1

N=1-0-1N=0

  • The number of nodes for 2p orbitals,

where, n=2 and l=1

Number of nodes =n-l-1

N=3-2-1N=0

  • The number of nodes for 3d orbitals,

where, n=3 and l=2

Number of nodes =n-l-1

N=3-2-1N=0

  • The number of nodes for 4f orbitals

where, n=4and l=3

Number of nodes =n-l-1

N=4-3-1N=0

Thus, Zero nodes are present in 1s,2p,3d and 4f orbitals.
