The correct option is
A 4
Biomes are very large ecological areas on the Earth's surface and each has its own fauna (animals) and flora (plants) that has adapted to their environment. Each biome has a characteristic climate based on the variations in temperature and rainfall.
Biomes can be classified into three types :
- Terrestrial biomes (on land) - They are distributed throughout the Earth. It include rainforests, deserts, tundras, grasslands, taiga and temperate deciduous forests.
- Freshwater biomes - Include large lakes and sub-tropical coastal rivers.
- Marine biomes - Include continental shelves, corals and kelp forests.
Major biomes of India are deciduous forests, deserts, sea coasts and tropical rainforests.
- Deciduous forests have a long warm growing season. There is abundant moisture with soil rich in organic matter.
- Tropical rainforests have highest rainfall and moderate temperatures. They have rich biodiversity of plants such as buttress roots (jackfruit tree), climbers (Grapevine), epiphytes (orchids), etc.
- Desert has the least rainfall and extremely high temperature. It has sparse vegetation consisting of deep rooted shrubs (aloe vera), ephemerals (any short-lived plants) and succulent xerophytes (cactus).
- Sea coast is an area where land and water meet and inhabit a variety of different plants (coconut trees) and animals. They have rich biodiversity.
Hence, the correct answer is option a.

The tundras are treeless polar deserts found in higher latitudes of polar regions where temperature is very less.
Grasslands or prairies are found in North America, Asian steppes, veld in Africa, etc. They are dominated by grasses. These biomes get too little rainfall for trees to grow in great numbers.
Taigas are forest of cold and subarctic regions in the northern hemisphere, lying between tundra (north) and temperate forest (south). This biome is present in places like Alaska, Canada, Scandinavia and Siberia.
Alpine biomes are relatively cold places with harsh climates, high altitudes and complex topography (the physical features of an area of land. They are found in the Scottish highlands, Scandinavian mountains, etc.
