Solution

The correct option is B 2

August Weismann, a German biologist, was the main opposer of the idea of inheritance of acquired characters. He put forward the theory of continuity of germplasm. According to Weismann, only characters influencing germ cells are inherited.

Cave dwellers: The ancestors of cave dwellers had normal eye sight. On account of living under continuous dark conditions, their vision got attenuated and lost.

Disappearance of limbs in Snakes: Snakes have evolved from lizard-like ancestors who had two pairs of limbs. The disuse of limbs in their slithering locomotion was the reason, according to Lamarckism, the reason for the loss of limbs.

Webbed feet of aquatic birds: Aquatic birds like ducks have evolved from terrestrial ancestors, which used their feet for moving on land. Lamarckism says that this is an evidence for inheritance of characters from ancestors.
