Solution

The correct option is D One

Oogenesis is the process of formation of the haploid female gamete. This process begins during foetal life. There are millions of oogonia inside the ovary of a foetus. Oogonia are diploid germ cells that undergo differentiation to form the primary oocyte.

The primary oocyte starts to divide by meiosis and gets temporarily arrested at prophase I of meiosis I. This continues till puberty.

At the onset of the puberty, the primary oocyte completes meiosis I and forms the secondary oocyte and first polar body. The secondary oocyte divides by meiosis II and forms the haploid ovum and second polar body upon the entry of the sperm.

Hence from one primary oocyte only a single ovum is formed.
