How many parts of the second figure need to be shaded to make the total shaded part as 116?

Open in App
Solution

We have two hexagons, each divided into 6 equal triangles.
Given that the total shaded part is 1 ⅙.
Let’s convert it to an improper fraction.
Multiply 6 by 1 and add with the numerator 1, we get; 6 x 1 + 1 = 7.

The improper fraction is 7/6.
In improper fraction, the numerator should be total parts shaded and the denominator should be the number of equal parts one whole is divided into.

2 parts shaded out of 7 parts in the first figure.
We need to shade 5 more parts to have to total shaded part as 1 ⅙.
