Question

How many pi bonds are in sp3 hybridization?

Open in App
Solution

The number of pi bonds present in sp3hybridization:

  • When the atomic orbitals in a molecule fuse together and formation of new hybridized orbitals take place is known as hybridization. The type of bond around central atom is determined by hybridization.
  • In sp3hybridization, all the four bonds are sigma bonds. Thus, atom with sp3hybridization has zero pi bonds.

Hence, There are zero pi bonds in sp3hybridization.
