One pollen mother cell undergoes 2 meiotic divisions to produce 4 cells. With each division, it forms 2 cells. Ultimately 4 cells are formed which have haploid nuclear state known as microspores or pollen grains.

64 pollen grains will be formed from = (1/4) x 64 = 16 pollen mother cells
