Each peripheral triplet consists of three 3 tubules called as A, B, and C each consisting of 13 tubulin containing protofilaments. The unit A consists of complete 13 alpha and beta protofilaments to which 10 successive protofilament microtubules join called B and C tubules. The B and C microtubules share 3 protofilaments with the preceding tubule(A-tubule) to make complete 13 protofilaments.
