A slag is a waste product formed by combination of a flux and gangue (impurity) during the extraction of metals by smelting process.
Flux are classified as Acidic flux ($Si{O}_2$, Borax) and Basic Flux ($MgC{O}_3,F{e}_2{O}_3,CaC{O}_3$)
Following four reactions can show slag formation process.
