Spermatogonia inside the seminiferous tubules divide mitotically and increase in numbers. Each spermatogonium is diploid also called as primary spermatocytes divide meiotically and produce two equal, haploid cells called secondary spermatocytes which then undergo the second meiotic division to produce four equal, haploid spermatids which will form four haploid spermatozoa. Each secondary spermatocyte divides into two spermatids. Thus, 100 primary spermatocytes will undergo meiosis I to produce 200 secondary spermatocytes will give rise to 400 spermatids (after meiosis II); the 400 spermatids will ultimately form 400 spermatozoa. Thus, the correct answer is option D.
