A pair of homologous chromosomes is called bivalent. These are formed in zygotene stage. During pachytene, in each bivalent four chromatids appear. it is called pachytene tetred. If a meiocyte contains 20 chromosomes, in pachytene 10 pachytene tetreds will appear.
