Question

How many times lighter or heavier than air is hydrogen?

Open in App
Solution

  1. Hydrogen is 14 times lighter than air, which means density of hydrogen is 14 times less than air.
  2. Density=Mass/Volume
  3. Suppose if you consider density of air is 14g/cm3, then density of hydrogen will be 1 g/cm3

Demonstration

Consider two balloons A and B. Balloon A was filled with Hydrogen gas and balloon B was filled with air and both of them were tied to the either side of a weighing scale. It was observed that weight scale is tilted to the side where balloon B was tied.
