Question

How many times will we use the given container of capacity 2 dL 50 mL to transfer 50 L 500 mL of liquid from tank 1 to tank 2?

Open in App
Solution

Liquid to be transferred = 50 L 500 mL
Capacity of container = 2 dL 50 mL

Let's convert the numbers into a single common unit, i.e., milliliter (mL).

The conversion table is as shown:

So, 1 L = 1000 mL
∴ 50 L = 50 × 1000 mL = 50000 mL

So, the volume of liquid to be transferred = 50000 mL + 500 mL
= 50500 mL

Similarly,
1 dL = 100 mL

∴ 2 dL = 2 × 100 mL = 200 mL

So, the capacity of the container
= 200 mL + 50 mL = 250 mL

∴ Number of times the container is used to transfer the liquids = 50500250
20225050500 500––2 50 0 500 500–– 0∴ Number of times the container is used to transfer the liquid = 202
