Blood vessels:

  1. Blood vessels are channels through which blood flows to and from various tissues and organs.
  2. It is three types. They are:

Arteries:

  1. Arteries are the blood vessels that carry oxygenated blood away from the heart and transport it to the targeted tissues and organs.
  2. They have thicker walls in comparison to other blood vessels because the blood flow is very rapid and at high pressure.

Veins:

  1. Veins are the blood vessels that carry deoxygenated blood towards the right atrium of the heart from different parts of the body.
  2. They have thinner walls.

Capillaries:

  1. Capillaries are the fine networks that help in connecting the arteries to the veins.
  2. They are very thin and tubular.
  3. The fine networking of capillaries helps in increasing the surface area for the exchange of gases (oxygen and carbon dioxide), nutrients, and waste products.
