How many types of fluid flows are known?
3
There are mainly 3 types of fluid flows.
1. Laminar 2. Turbulent and 3. Transitional
In the laminar flow, the fluid flows in parallel layers, with no mixing between the layers. In turbulent flow, the liquid moves fast with mixing between layers. The speed of the fluid at a point is continuously undergoing changes in both magnitude and direction. While, in transitional flow is a mixture of laminar and turbulent flow, with turbulence flow in the center of the pipe and laminar flow near the edges of the pipe. All these three type of flows are differentiated on the basis of Reynold number.
