How many types of fuels ? Explain them with suitable examples.

• Definition of Fuel - A material that is burnt to produce heat is called fuel.
• For Example - Wood, coal, LPG, kerosene, petrol, diesel, natural gas, biogas, etc.
• A fuel is a very good source of heat.
• There are three types of fuels-

1. Solid fuels - These fuels are solid at room temperature. For example - wood, coal, etc.
2. Liquid fuels- These fuels are volatile liquids that are widely used as fuel in vehicles. For example- petrol, diesel, kerosene, etc.
3. Gaseous fuels- These fuels are in a gaseous state or a mixture of combustible gases. For example- LPG, CNG, biogas, etc.
