How MCBs prevent the damage of household electric items?
By breaking the circuit, thus stopping the current
MCBs are Miniature Circuit Breakers. When there is an excess flow of current through the circuit in which MCB is included, a strong magnetic field develops around it. At this time, the coil attracts a piece of soft iron. The piece of iron moves and makes the switch of MCB work, thereby breaking the circuit. When the circuit breaks, the excess current stops reaching the household electric items and thus preventing damage to the appliances.
