Frequency = 4kHz = 4000Hz

Wavelength = 40cm = 0.40m

We know,

Velocity = $F r e q u e n c y \times W a v e l e n g t h$ = $0.40 \times 4000$ = $1600 m / s$

Now time taken, t = $\frac{D i s t a n c e}{V e l o c i t y}$ = $\frac{(4 \times 1000)}{1600}$ = $2.5 s$
