Dear Student,
People from various walks of life participated in the Civil Disobedience movement, including peasants. Rich ones were upset with the fall in prices of commercial crops. As their cash income disappeared, they found themselves unable to pay the government revenue. The poor ones cultivated rented land borrowed from landlords. They couldn't even pay their due rents, let alone taxes. They wanted a remittance in the due amount. This is how peasants came to be associated with the civil disobedience movement, in order to free themselves from their miserable conditions.
Regards.
