Dear Student
1. A democracy gives its citizens an opportunity to choose their rulers. This choice is provided to them by the various political parties that contest elections to win them. Such electoral competition ensures that power does not remain in one hand.
2. Many times, power is shared among different political parties that represent different ideologies and social groups. Sometimes, this kind of sharing can be direct. For instance, when two or more parties form an alliance to contest elections. If their alliance gets majority votes, they form a coalition government and thus, share power.
4. In a democracy, sometimes various pressure groups are also active. They also have a share in governmental power, either through participation in governmental committees or having influence on the decision making process of the government.
5. Some ways in which pressure group and movements influence power sharing are - dharna, bandhs, rallies, protest, strikes etc.
