Sewage can be reused by processing sewage water in a sewage treatment plant. Here the sewage is treated sequentially to remove the contaminants present in it. Initially, the sewage is allowed to stand still and passed through filters to remove the large solid waste. This is followed by treating the sewage with physical, chemical and biological processes to remove the physical, chemical and biological waste respectively. The end product after treatment is a solid waste that can be dumped and pure water that can be used for domestic and drinking purposes.
