Process of reproduction:

  1. Reproduction is the biological process of the formation of a new offspring.
  2. Reproduction is essential for the continuation of the progeny.
  3. It ensures that similar individuals are formed generation after generation.

There are two types of animals:
1. Oviparous:

  1. These animals produce an egg, which hatches to give the young one.
  2. It occurs outside the body of the mother.
  3. The young foetus is not very well protected.
  4. Example: birds and snakes.

2. Viviparous:

  1. These animals develop in the mother’s womb.
  2. It occurs inside the body of the mother.
  3. The baby is well protected and nourished.
  4. Example: rat, horse, cat, etc.
