For example, trees, houses and buildings are at rest because their position does not change with respect to their surroundings.
An object is said to be in motion if its position changes with respect to its surroundings and time.
For example, moving cars and flying birds are in motion as they keep on changing their position with respect to some stationary points in their surroundings with the passage of time.
