Many stopped wearing knee breeches and started wearing long trousers.The traditional terms used to address man and woman as Sir and madam were replaced by Citoyen and Citoyenne.People enjoyed more freedom as censorship was abolished and they could freely express their views and ideas through newspaper and pamphlets.
