Dear student ,
as we know that sodium chloride is an electrolyte and it 100 % ionised in solvent . and acc. to colligative prop. concept , the depression in freezing point depends on the no. of particles of solute . so on adding sodium chloride in ice the freezing process get slower down and melting will be possible easier.
