Solution

Cryptogamae:

  1. Cryptogams are non-flowering or non-seed producing plants in the plant kingdom.
  2. They don't have well-differentiated reproductive tissues.
  3. They have naked embryos known as spores.
  4. Algae (thallophytes), bryophytes, and pteridophytes are all members of the cryptogams sub-kingdom.

The sub-kingdom Cryptogamae is classified into three groups namely:

  1. Division Thallophyta - It is a plant kingdom category that includes primordial types of plant life with a simple plant body. It includes green algae such as Spirogyra, Ulothrix, Ulva, Cladophora and Chara.
  2. Division Bryophyta - It is a class of nonflowering plants that includes mosses and liverworts and is distinguished by the presence of rhizoids rather than real roots. It includes Riccia, Moss (Funaria) and Marchantia.
  3. Division Pteridophyta - A plant kingdom division that includes the vascular cryptogams. It includes club mosses like Selaginella and Lycopodium.
