Question

How the friction affect the velocity of a single movable pulley

Open in App
Solution

Dear student,It's because friction opposes the motion, which means the force allowing it to go forward is decreased due to the friction, decreasing the acceleration and ultimately decreasing the velocity the object is moving at, if there is friction at the pulley axle, then the tension in the string from which mass is hanging will be slightly different from the tension in the string on the other side of the pulley.
