Open in App
Solution

Conversion of Ethyne to Benzene:-

Step 1: Formation of Benzene

  • When Ethyne is passed through a red hot iron tube at a temperature of 873K it produces Benzene.
  • One bond from each of the ethyne breaks and connects to the adjacent Ethyne molecule to form a ring-like structure, that is Benzene.

This conversion of Ethyne to Benzene is a 1 step reaction.

Therefore, Ethyne when passed through red hot Iron tube at 873K, Benzene is produced.
