$\sqrt{13}$
1) Draw a line segment of length 13H = 14cm

2) Mark AC = 13cm & AD $= \frac{13 + 1}{2}$ = 7 cm

3) With D as centre & AD as radius, draw a semi circle as shown in the figure

4) Draw perpendicular at C to reach the semi circle at E.

5) Measure EC using a compass & mark the same on a horizontal line
