Question

how to find direction of magnetic field in a current carrying conductor (else then right hand thumb rule)

Open in App
Solution

Dear student, We can use Fleming 's left-hand rule for finding direction of magnetic field. But for this we must know the direction of force and current direction of th conductor. For this rule we hold forefinger, the center finger and the thumb of left hand at right angles to one another. Adjust fingers in such a way that the forefinger points in the direction of magnetic field and center finger points in the direction of current, then the direction in which the thumb points, gives the direction of force acting on the conductor.
