Question

How to find Pythagorean triplet of an even number i.e 16

Open in App
Solution

Pythagorean triplets are of the form 2m,m²-1 and m²+1

Given one number,that is 16

16 can not be in the form of m²-1 or m²+1 as we get the following result.

m²-1=16
m²=17;m=√17

m²+1=16
m²=15;m=√15

So,it is of the form 2m
2m=16
m=8

So,the other Pythagorean triplets are of the form m²-1 and m²+1
m²-1=8^2-1
=64-1=63

m²+1=8²+1
=64+1=65

So,the three Pythagorean triplets are 16,63and 65.
