Question

How to find the Least Common Multiple (LCM)?

Open in App
Solution

Compute the LCM of two numbers

Least Common Multiple or LCM of two or more numbers is the smallest number that is divisible by the numbers evenly. To compute the LCM,

  1. Divide the numbers by their common factors.
  2. The quotients from the preceding step will be the new dividends and step 1 is repeated until there are no more common factors between the numbers.
  3. Multiply all the divisors and the quotients of the final step and report the answer.

Example: Compute LCM of 8 and 28.

2828241427

Thus, LCM(8,28)=2×2×2×7=56

Hence, these are the steps to find the LCM of given numbers.
