In mathematics, a percentage is a number or ratio that can express as a fraction of $100$

To determine the percentage , we have have to divide the value by the total value and then multiply the resultant to $100$

Therefore,

$\mathrm{Percentage}\mathrm{formula}=\frac{\mathrm{Value}}{\mathrm{Total}\mathrm{Value}}\times 100$

Let $P\%$ of Number$=X$

Where $X$ is the required percentage

Then

$X=\frac{P}{100}\times Number$

For example,

calculate $10\%$ of $90$

$$\begin{gathered} X=\frac{10}{100}\times 90 \\ =9 \end{gathered}$$

Therefore, $10\%$ of $90$ is $9$

Hence, to get percentage of a number we use the formula $\frac{\mathrm{Value}}{\mathrm{Total}\mathrm{Value}}\times 100$.
