Consider two elements A and B A has valency x and B has valency y then formula of the compound will be AyBx ie interchange the valencies of both element

Eg: hydrogen has valency 1 and oxygen has valency 2 the compound formula is H2O.

Valency ratio can be reduced that is if the valencies are 4 and 2 it can be reduced to 2 and 1
