Procedure to multiply a whole number with a mixed fraction :

Following steps are performed to multiply a whole number with a mixed fraction

  1. Mixed fraction need to be converted into improper fraction.
  2. The whole number needs to be written in the form of the fraction with a denominator.
  3. Multiply the fraction that are obtained by converting them into an improper fraction
  4. The resultant fraction is written as a mixed fraction in its simplest form.

Example: find the product of 325 and 15.

Here 325 is a mixed fraction, while, 15 is a whole number.

325=3×5+25=175

So, 175×15=51

Therefore, product of 325 and 15 is 51.

Hence, we can multiply a whole number with a mixed fraction by converting mixed fraction into improper fraction and then multiply.
