Question

How to solve algebraic expression

Open in App
Solution

Let us take an example, which you probably would have done early classes like class 2 or 3.
You were asked to fill in the blank : 5 + .... = 12. (Remember these kind of problems). You would have said 7 must be written in place of blank. Right ?
Now, you are treating blank as an unknown and call it x.
Hence, algebraically you will write 5 + x = 12.
How you solve,
1) keep x on left hand side.
2) transfer all the known numbers to right hand side.
3) when you transfer known numbers to right hand side, change their sign.
So now you have x = 12 - 5 = 7.
Similarly for any equation, follow this rule.
If you have any other doubt, please ask giving example of problem, which you cannot solve. We will help you.
