There are five steps to study anomalous behavior of water by using Hope's Apparatus.
1. A beaker filled with water is cooled along with Hope's device an hour before conducting the experiment..
2. A cooling mixture is prepared using crushed ice and kitchen salt.
3. Two thermometers are fitted, one at high top and one at lower part.
4. At starting both the thermometer show same temperature. After the time progresses the temperature reached by the lower thermometer remains constant at 4C and other thermometer records continuously falls of temperature up to 0C and remains steady.
5. The expension of water when cooled from 4C to 0Cis anomalous expansion of water.
