how was indigo produced in an indigo factory?

Open in App
Solution

In the ancient times, the indigo dye was known to most civilisations. It provided vibrant blue colour to the cloth. In the olden days, it was obtained from indigo plants. The British forced Indian farmers to grow the crop on their fields. They then transported it to their factories and dye was extracted from these plants. But today it is produced with a synthetic method.
