Dear Student,
1. During the rule of the Cholas, Thanjavur was their capital city and was an important centre of administration.
2. The administration of the Chola dynasty consisted of the King as the head and he had a council of ministers who assisted him in the administrative matters.
3. The administrative regions were divided into provinces known as Mandalams which were looked after by Nadus. The Nadus performed several functions including collecting taxes and providing justice. They also had a group of villages under their control which were known as the 'Ur.'
4. The king gifted lands to the Brahmins. These areas were being administered by the Sabhas.
5. Sometimes the king also appointed an association of traders known as Nagarams to perform certain administrative functions.
