Solution

Instructions: Start with the point of redistribution of wealth and the emergence of factory owners and workers.
Then, move on to explaining the economic classification, exploitation and division of classes.

Solution: With the emergence of industrial revolution across Europe, changes were observed in the social hierarchy as well which stemmed from unequal economic conditions of different people.
  • Several people shifted base from rural to urban city centres in search of jobs in the booming factories. As a result, city centres turned into overcrowded slums.
  • Some people became factory owners and grew in power, wealth, and social prestige. These were the people who owned the means of production, and profit making was their sole objective. This was the well to do capitalist class of society.
  • The workers on the other hand worked for long hours in these factories at very low wages. Women and children also worked at low wages This section was exploited for higher profit making and hence remained poor. This was the workers class of the society.
