Solution:

• The methods which were used earlier to navigate were not accurate and explorers would often end up going in the wrong direction. These uncertainties and inaccuracies were the reason to improve the navigation system on Earth.
• To improve the navigation on Earth we have divided the Earth into imaginary lines. The meridians that go from top to bottom are called longitudes The parallels that go left to right are called latitudes
• Using these lines we can pinpoint any location on Earth.
