The peninsular plateau is the oldest landmass of the Indian subcontinent. it was a part of the Gondwana land. The two parts of the peninsular plateau are the Central Highlands and the Deccan plateau, and it has been formed due to volcanic eruption of deccan traps. A highland was created due to deposition of lava, layer after layer. The volcanic activity in this region is extinct now and hence this region is a stable zone.
