Open in App
Solution

Answer:

Suspension:

  • In suspension, solute particles are suspended throughout the bulk and can be visible by the naked eye.
  • For example, in a mixture of chalk and water, the particles of sand are suspended in water without dissolving in it.

Separation of chalk and water:

  • Particles of Chalk are insoluble in water so they can not be dissolved.
  • To separate these insoluble particles from their solution we use the filtration method.
  • After the filtration process chalk powder is collected as a residue on filter paper.
  • Remaining Water is collected as a filtrate.

Conclusion:

Therefore, we can separate a suspension of chalk dissolved in water using the filtration method.
