Solution
Galaxy:
A galaxy is nothing but a collection of billions of stars, gas, dust, planets, solar systems, comets, asteroids, and other celestial bodies.
The formation of galaxies can be understood by The Big Bang Theory, which is one of the most prominent theory shed light on the beginning of the universe.
This theory was given by Georges Lemaitre in 1927.
According to this theory, the universe came into existence from a single point that exploded 14 billion years ago.
After the explosion, all the mass of the universe was thrown in all directions which result in billions of islands of hydrogen gas and dust known as protogalaxies.
As the gas and dust in protogalaxies contracted due to gravitational force, stars, planets, and all other kinds of celestial bodies formed.
