Question

how were the northern plains formed?

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,
The northern plains are situated between the Himalayas and the Peninsular Plateau. This plain was formed by the alluvium deposits brought in by the three major rivers Ganga, Indus, Brahmaputra and their tributaries. The fine alluvium deposits made by the three rivers make the northern plains one of the most fertile plains in India for agriculture.

Thank you.
